January 2019

As mentioned in my previous post, Justin and I are making a concerted effort this year to make memories with our children.  Each month, we have planned family adventures - some big, some small - to give our kids the gift of family, memories, and quality time with each other.

January's letter promised a fun road trip to Chattanooga to visit the Creative Discovery Museum with some friends.  For the last few years, we've been getting together with the same group of friends over MLK weekend.  Even though Lissie's godmother wasn't able to make it at the last minute, we had a fabulous time with a few of our other favorite people!  We road tripped for the day, had fun tag-team parenting (the gals got drinks while the dads watched the kids and then we swapped - ingenious move, that one!), and Lissie wouldn't let us leave without a trip to the carousel and our favorite ice cream parlor.

Cheers!

Overall,  the entire month January was filled with lots of great memories.  Xavier started basketball, Lissie made her First Reconciliation.  We ate a LOT of Mexican food.  We celebrated Catholic Schools Week, and the kids auditioned and performed in the school Variety Show.  Here are some pics of a few of our January happenings.

January 1st - perfect time to see Mary Poppins and eat a tub of popcorn bigger than your face!
Lissie tried her hand prepping and making her first monthly dinner!

Both kids received 2nd quarter awards
(Perfect Attendance for both as well as Best Effort for Felicity),
so we celebrated with a special brunch!

January 2019: the month of way too many margaritas and Mexican food

She wanted to wear matching outfits to Mass one day!

Preparing for her First Confession with Fr. Fye

We even got a dusting of snow - but not enough for school to close.
(Just enough to terrify me.)

Bowling with her girl scout uniform, haha.

So proud of his strike!
(this pic was before he realized he was still losing, haha).

Post-First Reconciliation happiness!

X started basketball.  He's actually not that bad!

We ran the Zoo Run Run with the school's Running Club!

We got to run by some of the animals, including these flamingos!

Both kids were part of the school's Living Rosary as part of CSW.

Lissie went on a field trip to visit the Sisters of Mercy.
She came home saying she wouldn't mind being a sister, just one that's better dressed!

February's letter also promises some fun adventures - can't wait!
